Carbon enhancer generally refers to the graphitized carbon enhancer, in high-temperature conditions, the arrangement of carbon atoms in the microscopic form of graphite, so-called graphitization. Graphitization can reduce the content of impurities in the carbon enhancer, increase the carbon content of the carbon enhancer, and reduce the sulfur content.

Carbon enhancers used in casting, can significantly increase the amount of scrap steel, reduce the amount of pig iron, or do not use pig iron. At present, the vast majority of carbon enhancers are suitable for electric furnace melting, there are a small number of particularly fast absorption rates of carbon enhancers for the cupola. Electric furnace melting feeding method, carbon enhancer should be put in with the scrap and other furnace materials, small doses can be added to the surface of the molten iron. But to avoid large quantities into the molten iron feeding, in order to prevent excessive oxidation and the carbon increase effect is not obvious and the casting carbon content is not enough.
